This weekend was a great weekend to catch up on some movies.  I was lucky enough to have a free preview weekend for all the major movie channels.  I Loaded up the DVR and watched a couple of Rock related Films. "Neil Young: Heart Of Gold", is a concert film that was directed by Jonathan Demme and was filmed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville Tennessee.  It features songs from "Prairie Wind", as well as a few of his classics.  The concerts were around the time his father died and just before he had surgery to correct an aneurysm.  I enjoyed this film and was great seeing Neil perform at the Original Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.

The other film I had the chance to see was the recent Genesis documentary, "Genesis: Sum of The Parts",  (called Genesis: Together and Apart in the U.K).  This documentary goes through the different era's of the band and has all the band members commenting on the various albums, shows and all that went into the band.  They even go into length on the various band members solo careers.  The only downside to this documentary, is they completely ignore Steve Hackett's solo career.  They also ignore the album, "Wind and Wuthering" and their final album, " Calling All Stations".    A good overview if you are not familiar with the overall career of Genesis.
