Slash. Jimmy Page. Eric Clapton.  What name do these famous guitarists have in common?  Les Paul. The guitar maker's 100th birthday celebration at Hard Rock Cafe in New York City was star-studded, with legends like Steve Miller, Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, Steve Vai, and many others taking the stage to pay tribute.  Les Paul memorabilia will be displayed at the Hard Rock through Monday.

But that wasn't the only venue, and those weren't the only people honoring the Paul.  Fans were welcomed to a new art exhibit called "Les Paul's Big Sound Experience," highlighting the other innovations that can be attributed to this musical genius. Of course, Les Paul's hometown of Waukesha, Wisconsin celebrated their local-boy-done-good, and a ceremony was held in Nashville, declaring the day "Les Paul Day."

Without Les Paul wouldn't have the electric guitar, and without the electric guitar, we wouldn't have rock 'n roll.  So, happy birthday, Les Paul!  Thanks for rocking!
