The latest installment of Foodamazoo takes us to Jambo African Cuisine in Oshtemo Township.

Jambo serves up East African cuisine buffet style. While the menu features beef, chicken and fish entrees. Jambo brings out the vegetarian in me. My favorite dish is dengu, chickpeas cooked in a sauce of tomatoes and coconut milk. The dengu tops a seasoned rice called wali. I grab a piece of chipati, a flatbread, and a samosa. The samosas at Jambo are not like what you'd find in Indian cuisine. These samosas are fried triangle pockets filled with meat (or a meat substitute) with onion, carrots and spices.

The condiment that pulls it all together is their warm hot sauce.
