Long-time WWMT-TV news anchor Kate Tillotson announced on Facebook tonight she will be leaving Channel 3 at the end of September.

Here's the text of her Facebook post:

For 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of delivering you the news. You have generously lent your eyes and ears, your time, and your opinions, as I’ve worked to provide you with impactful stories padded with perspective and personality. We’ve shared triumphs and tribulations, laughter and tears, and most of all, a mutual respect for our wonderful West Michigan community. And so, as difficult as it may be, I'm announcing I've decided to leave Newschannel 3 at the end of September. This decision was not made lightly; it required time, patience, and self-reflection, and I am confident it is the right choice. The newsroom is a thrilling place to be, where no two days are the same; I will miss it, and I will miss you. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for welcoming me into your home, for granting me creative freedoms, and for allowing me a safe space to grow professionally and personally. I also want to thank Newschannel 3 for the unique opportunity to serve our community. As this storyline ends and another begins, please know I am forever grateful for the memories we've made and the friendships we've built. I'll see you on the air through September 30!

As noted in the post, Tillotson did not make any mention of future plans.

According to her biography on the station's website, Tillotson, a Massachusetts native, graduated from Emerson College. Prior to WWMT, she worked in Georgia and  Montana, where she won awards for her reporting, and is a two time Michigan Emmy Award winner.
