Local Brewery Moving To Tanger Outlets Grand Rapids Entertainment District
A West Michigan brewery is moving from its current location to Tanger Outlets in Byron Center. 5 Lakes Brewing Company in Dorr made it official today with an announcement from Tanger Outlets Mall, it's moving to the new entertainment district within the outlet mall.
The move will put the brewery at the heart of the new outdoor entertainment district set to open this fall at Tanger Outlets Grand Rapids. The new location is being billed as the '5 Lakes Brewpub'. While the brewery has been granted a full liquor license, it will not be brewing beer on-site as it has done in Dorr over the past five years.
Info about the move had been discussed in online groups for the past few months after breaking on local news site TownBroadcast 3 months ago. The brewery has operated in Dorr for the past five years after renovating an old restaurant and bowling alley space into the restaurant and Brewhouse Lanes.
Brewhouse Lanes closed down permanently during the pandemic, but the brewery maintained food and beverage services in accordance with guidelines through the pandemic. That including expansion of take-out options.
Doug and Cindy Lameyer with partners Lisa and Randy Blain opened the brewery in Dorr at the former Seasons in Time Restaurant and Jake’s Goodtime Bar & Grill. There is currently no word on whether the space will remain a restaurant.
Possible tenants may be wary of moving to the location as some township officials, including Dorr Trustee John Tuinstra who voted against an establishment the sells alcohol in the past, have made themselves vocal about resisting establishments that serve alcohol in the township.
