Lyft Will Now Give Free Rides to People Going on a Job Interview
Big applause to Lyft for doing good in communities around the nation.
In a press release from the rideshare service, they announced a new initiative Jobs Access Program. They teamed with several national and local organizations to offer free rides in over 35 cities (in the U.S. and Canada) to those who are on their way to a job interview. They say,
For the unemployed, reliable transportation to a job interview or to the first few weeks of work can mean the difference between successful, long-term employment and lost opportunities.
This new program is looking to help close that gap. In a study done by Lyft, they found that 44% of their riders start or end in a low-income area.
The Jobs Access Program will not only offer free rides to people who are going to and from an interview but also free rides for the first 3 weeks of employment.
Some of the partners include United Way, Goodwill, and the National Down Syndrome Society.
A list of the participating cities was not immediately available.
