Vying for the title of "Most Patriotic State of the Union," Michigan showed its pride by flying the stars and stripes over the span of the Mackinac Bridge.

Just as it first did on Memorial Day 2017, the Mackinac Bridge Authority hoisted a 30 x 60 American flag, flying the colors over the blue waters of the Straits of Mackinac. Michigan Department of Transportation shared the stirring photos on their Facebook page.

Many Michigan residents would love to see the flag become a permanent fixture on the bridge but, due to sometimes challenging weather conditions this is not possible. When conditions allow, the humongous flag will be hoisted on Memorial Day, Flag Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Veterans Day.

This is how the 26th state shows it is proud to be a part of this great nation.
