MSU Basketball Makes Staff Changes
Michigan State University men's basketball announced changes to their coaching staff on Monday morning.
After losing longtime assistant Dane Fife to Indiana earlier this off-season, former MSU assistant Doug Wojcik will take his position under head coach Tom Izzo (pictured above). Wojcik had been MSU's recruiting coordinator the last several seasons after a stint at Tulsa as their head coach.
Also, after video coordinator Drew Denisco left to become an assistant at Eastern Michigan, MSU is adding former player Austin Thornton in that role.
Two other MSU alums, Mark Montgomery and Matt McQuaid are returning to East Lansing to become recruiting coordinator (Montgomery) and assistant director of operations (McQuaid). Montgomery returns after he was let go by Northern Illinois after this past season. McQuaid was on the 2019 Final Four team that lost to Texas Tech in the national semifinals.
McQuaid will work with the new director of basketball operations Garrett Briningstool, who takes over for the departed David Thomas (another former MSU alum).
These staff changes come in the wake of a 15-13 season and a loss to UCLA in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament back in March.
