They'll be rowing the boat in Minneapolis this fall. P.J. Fleck and WMU have cut a deal for the "row the boat" slogan. But Western did okay, too.In a release sent out today by WMU,

Recent conversations between the University and Fleck's agent have led to an agreement in which Fleck will legally assume ownership of the phrase and be able to use or transfer it at will. The motivational phrase, as Fleck has noted publicly, is one that is highly personal and grew out of the way he and his family coped with the loss of an infant son.

In the same release, Western says Fleck agrees to make a yearly $10,000 donation for a scholarship to a Western football player. This is on top of previous $50,000 donation made during Fleck's time as coach here.

Finally, WMU gets to use and promote the "Row the Boat" term when in reference to the Fleck era.
