Pearl Jam have released a video to accompany latest track “Superblood Wolfmoon,” created by Keith Ross, the person behind the Tiny Concert Instagram account.

Ross has established a reputation for producing short animations using only a ballpoint pen. The video is his first full-length promo clip, running to three minutes and 48 seconds.

In 2018, advertising copywriter Ross explained how he began creating the animations. “I was probably just doodling at work when I should’ve been paying attention at a meeting or something like that,” he told AltPress. “I was thinking about the types of things I liked to draw as a kid – concerts and motorcycles. I thought, ‘I wonder if my mom still has those drawings. It would be cool to post one on Instagram. Then I thought it would be cooler to try to recreate it with a little light animation to bring it to life.”

He set out with the aim of drawing like a 13-year-old, despite his admitted perfectionist tendencies. “I thought, ‘I’ll just draw, and whatever comes out, comes out.’ What I learned was all those wonderful little mistakes and accidentally smudged paper I did with my hand and stupid lines that went the wrong way… [w]hen you animate it, all of a sudden, it gives it this whimsical outlet. It feels extremely unprofessional– and that’s the charm.”

“Superblood Wolfmoon” is the latest track to appear from Pearl Jam’s new album Gigaton, which will be released on Mar. 27 via Republic Records. It follows the single “Dance of the Clairvoyants” and the Super Bowl commercial placement of “River Cross.”
