The debate rages on as to what age is appropriate for a child to have a cell phone.  I have to be honest, my wife Karla and I kept lowering the age for each subsequent child.  Our oldest, Ryan, had to wait until he was 15 but that was back at the beginning of the 2000s so we're talking about a drastically different time.  These days I've seen 4 & 5 year olds with there own phone.  And now much of the emphasis is on safety in terms of the what effect the actual screen time is having on these children.

In an article on wilx.com, there is a movement building called "Wait Til 8th" which calls for parents to wait until their child is in the eighth grade before they get a cell phone.  This idea, ironically, went viral and now 20,000 families across the country have taken the pledge.  Personally, I think it's a great idea but in terms of the social pressure that will befall a kid who has no phone when everyone else does brings other issues into question.  What do you think?  Get more of the story by clicking HERE.
