Remembering the Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan
When I was a teenager in the 90s I wanted to be Dolores O'Riordan. The lead singer of The Cranberries was strong and strangely haunting; a combination of the divine feminine and a prize fighter. Her voice was powerful, soulful, and otherworldly. Now, there is silence.
Dolores O'Riordan passed away in London. She was 46. No other details have been released.
Join me in remembering her incredible talent.
Zombie - I never really could hit those notes, but that never stopped me from trying this one time and time again at karaoke.
Linger - A scorned lover never sounded so sweet.
Salvation - This is the otherworldly voice I was talking about...
Dreams - And I am crying at my desk like a toddler with a skinned knee...
Thank you, Dolores, for sharing that remarkable voice with the world in the short time you were here. It will live on in the music that remains.
I still want to be her when I grow up.
