My good friend and neighbor Laythen Young is a true outdoorsman and he's passed it along to his family.  I used to be one but now only live vicariously through him and his stories.  So when he told me about this event and the fact that it's not looking good right now for fun in the snow around here, I thought I'd pass it along.

It's a Snow Kiting event in Traverse City called the 2020 Midwest Snowkite Jam Revival.  The theme is “Back From The Dead” because there hasn’t been a snow kiting event since 2016 making this the largest snow kiting event in the Midwest February 7-9.  They're expecting 60-75 participants and many spectators.  There's a rider welcome party, gear swap, Kite Race (4 race classes- Men and Women for ski and snowboard), Kite Air Competition, and main even party at the Little Fleet Yurt.  Along with all of that a huge giveaway raffling off a snowkite (possibly 2).  In order to participate, entrants must be able to safely fly, launch, and land a kite surfing kite. They must also be able to maintain control while riding. Registration is taking place through eventbrite and more information can be found on their Facebook page.  Cost is $20 early-bird fee (by Feb.1)  and $30 at the door.
