Two New Southwest Michigan Covid-19 Testing Sites Added This Week

The Michigan Department of Health & Human Services is working with the Michigan National Guard and community partners on COVID-19 testing.

Knowledge is power. As its symptoms can be common with the flu, allergies or other illnesses, it's important to know if you have Coronavirus in order to limit its impact and spread. To that end, there are two places in Southwest Michigan to get tested this week.

Niles

• Mondays 10-5 | Wednesdays 10-5 | Thursdays 12-7
• Hope Community Church, 2390 Lake Street

Plainwell

• Thursday | Sept. 10 | 9 am- Noon
• Kenyon Park, 929 Lincoln Parkway

The Niles site is one of 22 state-wide run by Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, in cooperation with trusted community partners including churches, community colleges and nonprofit organizations. Testing is free at these sites, chosen in part to help address racial and ethnic disparities that had existed prior to the pandemic and were exacerbated by the virus.

We are working to make these Neighborhood Testing Sites as accessible as possible to the communities most in need. Ensuring all Michiganders can get tested is a priority for the department and we appreciate the partnerships with these community organizations helping make that happen.

Meanwhile, the Michigan National Guard will be in Plainwell as part of their efforts to assist MDHHS.

Members of the Michigan National Guard, in partnering with the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as local health departments, continue to be a vital part of our state’s response to COVID-19 by testing thousands of people in communities across the state and distributing tens of thousands of pounds of food at community food banks. COVID-19 is still a very real threat to our state and we must all remain disciplined in our adherence to guidance from public health officials as we strive to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from this disease.
