Warren, Michigan Man Sits Outside Wife’s Nursing Home Window Every Single Day [VIDEO]
Frank Notaft visits his wife every day. That would be impressive under normal circumstances, but the perseverance this Warren resident has shown is a testament to the couple's true love.
Notaft is 83. His wife Nikki is 80 and suffers from Altzheimer's Disease. He drives from Warren to Clinton Township every day to visit her in a nursing home -- he's been doing that since before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. But when things changed in 2020 and Nolaft was no longer able to see his wife inside the facility, he kept coming.
Frank visits his wife from outside her window at Lake Pointe Senior Care in Clinton Township. According to WDIV-TV in Detroit, he sets up a tent, chair, heater, and radio so he can be somewhat comfortable as he visits with his wife every day. Their son Gary built a platform for him, so he can be at eye-level with his wife when he visits.
“A lady gave me the tent,” Notaft said. “Someone brought me cookies one day.”
Notaft says that because his wife has Alzheimer's, she isn't always able to recall what they talk about on their daily visits. But she knows he's there for her.
Michael Perry, the CEO of Nextcare Health Systems which owns the facility, tells the TV station that he's glad restrictions in Michigan will soon be easing so that Notaft will once again be able to see and hug his wife.
