Watch Green Day Perform on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
Punk icons Green Day have been in the limelight this year, returning with Revolution Radio, their first new studio effort in four years. They made headlines earlier this week for their surprising performance at the American Music Awards, which included an anti-Donald Trump chant during "Bang Bang." They returned to television screens again last night (Nov. 21) on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to perform the single as seen in the video above.
Introducing the band, Jimmy Kimmel held up a vinyl copy of Revolution Radio before handing over the spotlight to Green Day. The stage bathed the band in red as frontman Billie Joe Armstrong exclaimed "Los Angeles!" during the opening buildup of "Bang Bang." From just over three minutes of a performance, it's clear Green Day are still a band very much on top from the riff-fueled energy to their energetic stage show.
The television viewing audience was only treated to "Bang Bang," but the group also tore through the Revolution Radio title track, which can be viewed below. The song doesn't carry the blistering energy of "Bang Bang," instead relying on seesawing momentum with a sing song chorus.
If you missed out on Green Day on Kimmel, be sure to catch the band performing tonight (Nov. 22) on The Late Late Show With James Corden, airing on CBS at 12:37AM ET/PT
Revolution Radio debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts and the band is just at the beginning of the album cycle which will take them across the globe once more. They'll be hitting North America with Against Me! next year, starting on March 1 in Phoenix, Ariz. For a full list of dates, head to our Rock + Metal Tour Guide.
