Since the pandemic started, many of the smaller breweries in Kalamazoo have been hit hard, relying on canned sales to get them through the pandemic, with little to no help from the government. Wax Wings Brewing Company is one such business, as they've thrived in the past by welcoming guests in to relax, play a board or card game, eat some food from time to time and just enjoy beers. The shutdown has made it impossible for any of that to happen. They recently took to their Facebook page to explain why they've been unable to re-open their doors, even with the easing of Covid-19 protocols:

Due to the size of our taproom, the safety of our small staff and our patrons has been the primary factor in our decision-making for when to start serving draft beer again. The ebb and flow of statewide infections and restrictions has proved challenging for everyone to navigate. It has also made it difficult to confidently choose the appropriate time to open.

When Will Wax Wings Re-open

As of now according to their post, they're staying optimistic with the current trends in conjunction with the ever-increasing vaccination availability, and they feel the easing of Covid-19 restrictions also demonstrates the state’s confidence in these trends, so they're aiming to reopen their doors on May 1st.
