2014 Winter Classic In Ann Arbor Named NHL Event Of The Decade
The NHL is announcing top moments and plays of the decade and the latest event announced is the outdoor game between Detroit and Toronto in Ann Arbor.
Leading up to the announcement of the first and second all decade teams, the NHL has released top moments and plays of the last ten years.
The NHL announced the top event of the decade being the 2014 Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
The game featured the Red Wings against the Maple Leafs. The original six rivalry made for a great game as the Leafs won in overtime in a shootout 3-2. Michigan Stadium was the perfect setting as it was 13 degrees at face off and had snow.
The game holds the record for the biggest crowd in NHL history with 105,491 people. The latest outdoor game between Dallas and Nashville had an attendance of 85,630.
The Winter Classic continues but those will never be to the level of excitement that this game had. It would of been nice to see the Red Wings pull out the win but to be apart of the historic event was great to see.
The NHL will release the Moment of the Decade, Goal of the Decade and the All Decade teams through out the week.
