8th Anniversary of Kalamazoo Comedy Open Mic Night Featuring Stefani Bishop
Kalamazoo Comedy is turning 8-years-old. Ah, it feels like only yesterday when they were crawling and drooling. Now, their training wheels are off, they're missing their two front teeth. We're just so proud! Celebrate their 8th birthday with a very special Open Mic Night at Shakespeare's Lower Level, Thursday, March 19th. Doors open at 8:00pm, show starts at 9:00pm. It also happens to be Stefani Bishop's 8th anniversary at WRKR, so she will brave new waters and get up to perform stand-up for the first time. Other local comics include:
Bob Fredericks - Through non sequitur, strange observations, and stories, Kalamazoo's own Bob Fredericks will emcee as well as perform.
Erica Thomson - Plainwell native Erica Thomson brings her inferiority complex and more to the stage of Shakespeare's Lower Level. Stories are what helped her navigate her life growing up in the shadow of three amazing sisters, and it's what brought her family together at dinner, holidays, and always. "Comedy is for everyone and that is why I LOVE IT."
Gad Holland - Insightful and edgy, Gad has had the pleasure of performing all around Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and Windsor, ON. No topic is taboo. When Gad is on stage anything is possible, from politics to relationships, entertainment to social norms. Holland got his start in comedy at WMU in Western's Stand-Up Club, and he went on to co-host the Andrew Z in the Morning show in Toledo. He also appeared as Ben in the Night of the Living Dead remake.
Connor Dukes - Punk rocker and hockey player, Connor Dukes is a Kalamazoo native who has lived all over the Midwest. Currently employed at Shakespeare's, Dukes has spent the last six years recovering from a traumatic brain injury, a wound that gives him both nervous energy and intense confidence.
Amber Bomia - Director of Compliance and Human Resources for a home care agency in Battle Creek, Amber Bomia is originally from Monroe, Michigan. She's the mother of a six-year-old who loves road trips, game nights, and making people laugh. "Can’t wait to take these ridiculous stories to the stage and make strangers laugh!"
Other performers are, Josh Ortega, Ben Langworhy, James Couture, Sonny Pandit, Adam Summerfield, Aaron Bowersox, Annalise Romans, Jared Hibbs, Jesse Perez, Joshua Grafton Mathias, and Stefani Bishop.
