A Michigan Winter Looks Truly Majestic From Space [PHOTOS]

It's been a helluva week. You need to see some photos that have nothing to do with politics. You need a distraction from the endless barage of information concerning the coronavirus pandemic.

So here you go.

Take a look at our great state of Michigan from space. The Cooperative Institue for Meteorological Satellite Studies at the University of Wisconsin - Madison captured the photos of Michigan on January 1. Michigan looks majestic, doesn't it?

"Here are two of the first 2021 images from the Suomi-NPP and NOAA-20 satellites when they flew over the U.S. overnight to acquire stunning VIIRS nighttime imagery with light from recently full moon (98% illumination). City lights shimmer in the wintry landscape while a large storm swirls in the Mississippi Valley. Including a zoom into the Great Lakes Region because there's no place like home!"

To the untrained eye, it would appear that the white splotches peppering the southern half of the Lower Peninsula could be snow, but I honestly have no idea. If that is indeed the case, our state probably looks significantly different since these photos were taken on January 1st.
