Covid Will Not Stop Kalamazoo
Sure things seem bleak right now from a social stand point being on another lockdown and all. So forgive me for getting a little stoked when I came across the announcement of a beautiful new dual-brand hotel and banquet space in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo that is just around the corner.
Like many of you, I'm chomping on the bit to get back to spending evenings downtown. The news brought back great memories of going downtown to shows and restaurants and many other numerous activities downtown Kalamazoo has to offer. Think about how much more vibrant ambience the hotel and suites are going to offer us when we can return to normalcy. Man I can't wait!
So here's how this gonna roll out-
Phase one involves the soft opening the restored/remodeled/revival of the old Historic Masonic Temple Building, also known as the Rose Street Market Building. The Hilton Garden Inn Kalamazoo Downtown will open its doors (albeit at reduced capacity initially) on Monday the 30th.
Meanwhile an adjoining entirely new building, is targeting an opening date of May 10, 2021. The Home2Suites all-suite hotel will feature 106 guest rooms and similar amenities as the Hilton Garden Inn, along with shared public areas.
The six-story Hilton Garden Inn hotel will feature 114 guest rooms, an indoor saline pool, on-site restaurant, outdoor courtyard, 2,100-plus square feet of banquet space, a fitness center, lounge, business center and parking garage with a skywalk. The restaurant will offer a diverse menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A banquet hall will also be available.
Don't know about you but the confidence to put such efforts into our thriving downtown area says a lot to me. Vaccines for covid are close and I just feel something like this is a sign that we're getting closer...closer to being able to hang out and now stay in our upcoming and vibrant downtown!
Here's to a great 2021 everyone!
