Aerosmith: Live in Concert
The Toxic Twins are center stage this week as Aerosmith headlines Live in Concert this Saturday night on Kalamazoo's Rock Station.
Some say Aerosmith is the greatest American rock band of all time. Since their debut record in 1973, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford have put out 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums. Aerosmith has scored "twenty-one Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, nine number-one Mainstream Rock hits, four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards," selling 150,000,000+ albums along the way.
This Saturday night, the talent and the swagger of Aerosmith is on display as they headline Live in Concert. We'll hear a couple of sets from Tokyo in June of 2002, while the band was on their "Girls of Summer" tour. Tyler, Perry and company roll through the hits like "Love in an Elevator," "Pink," and "Cryin'" and will play the classics "Walk this Way," Dream On," and "Sweet Emotion." The "Bad Boys of Boston" are big in Japan.
Also this week, we'll hear the Scorpions at their peak, recorded live in 1984, and Queen from Budapest in '86. Tesla is also on the bill, with a special appearance from Abbey Road- so, of course, you'll hear them do a Beatles tune. The best substitute for live concerts is recordings from the vaults on Live in Concert: Saturday nights at 8, exclusively on Kalamazoo's Rock Station 107.7 RKR.
