Playoff hockey in Michigan continues as one team, the Grand Rapids Griffins are still alive and are playing in the Calder Cup Finals.   The AHL is giving fans a chance to see the series for free.

According to the AHL,  fans will be able to watch the series between the Red Wings affiliate, Griffins and the Tampa Bay Lighting affiliate Syracuse Crunch for free from the AHL.    So unless you go to the games live in Grand Rapids, this will be one of the ways to see the teams play for the Calder Cup.  A few of the games are also scheduled to air on NHL Network Radio on satellite radio.

The first two games will be in Grand Rapids at Van Andel Arena beginning Friday Night, June 2nd and Saturday Night, June 3rd.

To view the games you can either download the AHL app or view the games at the ahl website.   You need an account which you can set up on the site and the rest of the details to view the games are here.

This series is a repeat of the series from 2012-2013 which saw the Griffins win the cup.   That Griffins team featured a few players who are now regular Red Wings like Tomas Tatar and Gustav Nyquist.

The Syracuse Crunch is the AHL affiliate of the Kalamazoo Wings  so this should be a fun series for hockey fans in Michigan.

It would have been great to see the Red Wings and the K-Wings do well in the playoffs but I'm glad to see a team from our state have a chance to win a championship.
