Nina‘s Taqueria has been a gem in Augusta for many years now, 27 to be exact. The small town has a cute downtown area, and Nina‘s has been one of the main places to stop for lunch or dinner for locals or for those passing through.

Sadly, Nina has announced that her family restaurant is closing its Augusta location.

But this isn’t just a closing of a restaurant, as Nina put it in her Facebook post, they didn’t just grow up visiting Nina‘s Taqueria, her family grew up inside of those walls:

Cousins running around the back, the smell of food that felt like home, family gatherings that always seemed to start or end at the restaurant… so many of our memories were made there. It wasn’t just a building — it was part of our family.

Although the Augusta location is closing down, the 27-year legacy of the restaurant continues as their Battle Creek location will remain open, along with Nina’s market, a small market, where customers can purchase specialty groceries at affordable pricing:
Seeing it close is bittersweet. Bitter because it’s the end of a chapter that shaped who we are… but sweet because the legacy continues. Our Battle Creek, Michigan location is still open, and we truly hope some of our amazing Augusta people will make the drive out whenever they can. The same recipes, the same love, the same family — just a different home.

The last day Nina’s in downtown Augusta will be in business is Friday, December 19.
