A police officer's work is never done. With all the things we see in the news, it can be easy to forget law enforcement and first responders in our communities are real human beings who have families and call our cities, townships and villages their home.

One Battle Creek resident shared a recent experience with the Battle Creek Police Department on social media....

The photo above is not an isolated incident either, Shelby shared that this happens regularly in her neighborhood. Interactions like this can go a long way in building a good relationship between members of the community and its police force.

Earlier this week, the Battle Creek Fire Department shared this sweet rescue by one of their own. A gesture that sets a great example for others.

Let us not forget the Battle Creek Police officer that helped shovel the driveway of a retired nurse while Michigan was in the grips of the Polar Vortex.

Thank you Shelby for sharing this great experience and thank you to all of the great first responders who go above and beyond for our community.
