‘I Never Felt A Thing'; My (First Shot) Vaccine Experience

It's a bit bizarre when you look at the pictures, but it makes perfect sense. There. amid the rakes, bird seed, and cosmetics, is the clinic set up to distribute, in this case, the Pfizer version of the Covid vaccine. I wish I'd needed a rake. (Two birds with one stone.)

Yes, I got my first Covid vaccine shot on Tuesday, at Meijer. The hardest part of the whole experience was typing that sentence on this bad keyboard.

Here's how it all came together. I arrived for my 1:00 pm appointment at about 12:55 pm. I walked in the pharmacy side entrance. The two greeters said "walk this way." (Sorry, old joke) One of the greeters asked my name, found me instantly on the ipad, told me I was an "A lister" (wow, I've never been an A-lister for anything, said follow the arrows (to the back of the store). Once I got there, another greeter, pointed me to the left (by the bubble wrap) and there was where the line started. We moved quickly. There were maybe 5 people ahead of me. The one medical person waved at the greeter, and I was next.

I sat down. She asked if I had an arm preference. I said usually left or right is good. While I gave my insurance card and driver's license to the medical guy, I think she gave me the shot. Never felt a thing. I actually had to ask twice, "did I get the shot?" While all this was going on, I got a card to come back in April, along a little sticky note saying 1:21, which is how long I had to wait to leave. I was literally that simple. Twenty minutes, in and out.

They are incredibly well organized. The medical guy told me they're doing 1200 shots this week at that one location. It's runs like a well-oiled machine. And in my case, painless. (Update: Six hour later, still no pain.)
