BRESHA WEBB – “Angie”
“Truth Be Told”
Fridays (8:30-9 p.m. ET); premiere Oct. 16

Bresha Webb stars as Russell’s (Tone Bell) practical wife Angie, who is special if only for the fact that she has her hands full being married to a stand-up comic, in NBC’s new comedy “Truth Be Told.”

Born and raised in Baltimore, Webb always knew she wanted to be an actress. She attended the prestigious Baltimore School for the Arts where she was immersed in theater, dance, and music. She received her BFA from the California Institute of the Arts and soon after began booking jobs.

From drama to comedy, she has made a name for herself through the vibrant characters she has brought to life on screen. Her credits include HBO’s “Hung,” Showtime’s “Weeds,” and ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” where she was featured in a significant arc last season. Webb also guest stars on the upcoming HBO series “Brothers in Atlanta.”

When not working, Webb has a big place in her heart for philanthropy and has volunteered with the Black AIDS Institute, working to generate HIV awareness for the African-American community. She also supports Dress for Success, a nonprofit organization that provides interview suits, confidence boosts and career development to low-income women in more than 75 cities worldwide.

Webb currently lives in Los Angeles with her Chihuahua-Mini Pincher mix rescue dog Little Foot.

“Truth Be Told”

Fridays (8:30-9 p.m. ET); premiere Oct. 16

If you can think it, they will most likely say it in this unabashed new comedy about two diverse couples — Mitch (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, “Saved by the Bell”) and Tracy (Vanessa Lachey, “Dads”) and Russell (Tone Bell, “Bad Judge”) and Angie (Bresha Webb, “Hung”) —  a fearless foursome who are both neighbors and best friends. As they navigate through life side-by-side, they can’t help but analyze and obsess about everything. From sex and race to everything else your parents told you never to talk about, absolutely no topic is out of bounds for this wildly outspoken group.

Mitch is a college ethics professor, which might explain why he goes through life with a heightened attention to justice. He knows he can’t change the world but is quite determined to change his corner of it. At his side is his beautiful wife of five years, Tracy, who, by day is a tough-as-nails attorney and by night is a nurturing mom to their their 4-year-old daughter, Sadie.

Their best friends Russell and Angie live next door. Russell is Mitch’s male voice of reason. A stand-up comic, Russell has absolutely no fear when it comes to talking to someone or making a scene in public to prove his point.  His new bride, Angie, is that spirited special kind of woman who, while married to a guy that’s quite a handful, is able to go toe-to-toe with him at a moment’s notice.

These four friends love and support each other so much that they can talk about any topic in the most honest, candid, and humorous of ways. The kind of conversations people really have with their real friends.

Based on his life, DJ Nash serves as writer and executive producer. Will Packer (“Ride Along”) and director Pam Fryman (“How I Met Your Mother”) also serve as executive producers. “Truth Be Told” is produced by Universal Television and Will Packer Productions.
