Central Michigan Band Set to Play Detroit Lions Monday Night Football Game
In a first for the Central Michigan Chippewa Marching Band, they're set to play halftime of the Detroit Lions Monday Night Football game this season.
Perhaps the bigger story is that the Lions are hosting a Monday Night Football game.
When the New York Jets roll into to Ford Field on September 10th, they'll hear the sounds of the Chippewa Marching Band.
While the band has played Ford Field in the past, it has always been with the CMU football team playing in MAC games hosted there. This will be the first time the Chips have performed at Ford Field as the guest of the Lions.
But it doesn't mark the first time the CMU band has played as the guest of the Lions. In fact, the Chippewa Marching Band has played as the Lions band at both Briggs Field and the Pontiac Silverdome.
A link via the CMU website offers tickets with a portion of the ticket sale going to the band.
The invitation to play Ford Field may be some consolation to the Chips after their home field, Kelly-Shorts Stadium, was voted the worst place to play in the Mid American Conference.
