Being a long time Detroit Red Wings fan I have had the chance to see some of the greatest players to ever play the sport of Hockey.  Last night saw two of those greats inducted into the hall of fame, Nicklas Lidstrom and Sergei Fedorov.

Most deserving for both players.  Nick is one of the greatest defenseman ever with 7 Norris trophies for best defensive player.  He also had the honor of being the first European born captain to win a Stanley Cup.  I personally enjoyed watching him through out his 20 year career.   He was my wife's favorite player and she still tells me that he is the greatest.  With all that he accomplished it's hard to argue.

I'll admit I didn't get to watch a lot of Sergei Fedorov in his prime.   I think much of that had to do with the availability of watching the Red Wings in the early 90's.  Though, I remember his last few years with the Wings when he was apart of that legendary 2002 team.   I've always been a fan of the guys who could not only play offense, but be able to hold his own on defense and Sergei was one of the best.

Congratulations to two legendary players who helped bring the Wings back to being one of the top organizations in not just the NHL, but in all sports.
