The J Geils Band is one of the most celebrated bands in Michigan, who aren’t actually from Michigan. They’ve always maintained the mindset that they are a Detroit band from Boston, so when the lead singer of The J Geils Band had the opportunity to go on the daily show to talk about his new book, he made sure that the host felt right at home.

On a recent episode of The Daily Show hosted by Jordan Klepper, who is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, the former front man from The J Geils Band, Peter Wolf, was his special guest.

At the beginning of the interview, Peter brought up the fact that Jordan was from Kalamazoo and, from underneath the table, busted out two shot glasses, which were filled with what Peter Wolfe described as Kalamazoo bourbon.

Jordan made a joke, saying that they would go blind if they drank it. Jordan Klepper regaled the audience and Peter Wolf with stories of growing up, listening to the band, highlighting the live album that took place in an old hall called the Cinderella Ballroom.

The album, called Full House, was one of the last shows, if not the last show, to take place in the Cinderella Ballroom before it was eventually torn down in the early 70s, but remains a favorite album among many fans.

Over the years, the J Geils band recorded three live albums from three separate venues in Michigan, but Peter Wolfe told Jordan that Full House was his personal favorite, saying:

I was telling your dad that that Full House is my favorite J Geils Band record, and you like all of them, but that one happens to be my favorite because that was just like a snapshot of what we did, like a decisive moment, and we just started at 99 miles an hour and just kept going.
