Detroit Bookstore Employee Discovers Explosive Materials Inside Antique Bottle During Cleaning

A bookstore in Detroit that has recently gone viral for trying to find the reason squirrels are dropping left and right outside their store has once again made headlines, after an employee found explosives inside their shop.

John K. King Books has made headlines once again, this time for something completely different. They found highly explosive materials inside a bottle in their bookstore. John King Books is located off Lafayette in Detroit, and they're known for having a million used or rare books.

The Detroit Fire Department had to go over there because they found crystallized acid while they were doing some cleaning. The employee who found it had a background in chemistry in college, and she knew it might be unstable. That's why she was like, "You know what? I'm gonna go ahead and take this bottle outside and gently set it down."

Officials were contacted about the bottle sometime in the morning. They closed off multiple streets in the area. Luckily, no one was hurt. The employee who found the bottle said the bookstore also collects antiques, and the bottle was acquired at some point.

They don't even know when they came to possess it, but the bomb squad had to remove the bottle. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine if squirrels had gotten into that? You would have seen some squirrels dropping seriously left and right and up and down and all over the place.

Last week, you may recall a story about a bookstore in Detroit that was trying to figure out why squirrels were dropping dead outside of their store. And they think they know why.

They feel like somebody may be using poison to try to kill rats, and the squirrels are getting into it, and they wanted to protect the wildlife. The owner, after all, cares very much about animals, so they asked the public to try to help them out.
