A Saugatuck crowd got a surprise visitor over the 4th of July weekend when a deer frolicked with beach-goers.

How hot has it been in Michigan? So hot that even the wildlife is coming to the Big Lake to cool off. A white-tailed deer came out of the sand dunes and walked amongst the crowd at a Saugatuck beach even licking a young woman. Katie Papke was there and shared the unbelievable sight on her YouTube channel.

This white tailed buck came out of the adjacent sand dunes to enjoy time with beach patrons. On July 6th, the deer hung around the Lake MIchigan shore for over 30 minutes at Saugatuck State Park. He enjoyed licking a little girls legs and ruffling through another’s beach bag for snacks. Did the Fourth of July Fireworks bring him out? Acclimated to humans or just naive?
