Despite What You Saw on Facebook, You Can Not Base Jump the Mackinac Bridge

You may have seen a post floating around on Facebook promoting an event featuring base jumping from the Mackinac Bridge. Don't believe it.

The Yooper gag shows a Photoshopped image of a basejumper who appears to have just leaped from one of the tall towers of the Mackinac Bridge. If the event was real - and it's not - you would have paid $99 for the leap off the Mighty Mac.

The joke image was shared by several social media feeds including one by the Keyhole Bar in Mackinaw City.

Don't believe this either: Social media pranksters were also out in force last winter promoting an alleged winter crossing of a frozen Lake Michigan.
