The Detroit Lions are expected to send a representative to Atlanta to attend a workout session by quarterback Colin Kaepernick. According to The Detroit News, Saturday's workout will include interviews along with several tests and drills.

Kaapernick made an announcement on Twitter Tuesday evening about the sessions:

I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions issued a statement related to why they were planning to attend Kaepernick's workout:

"As an organization, we always do our due diligence on players that are available. I know Bob Quinn and his staff will have somebody down there to watch the workout. We’ll see where that goes." - Lions Head Coach Matt Patricia in a statement to The Detroit News

Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford missed a start last Sunday for the first time since 2011 due to a back injury. It has not been determined how long Stafford will be out. Meanwhile, back-up quarterback Jeff Driskel started against the Chicago Bears in an eventual 20-13 loss. Driskel was 27 for 46 with for 269 yards in the contest. He had one touchdown and one interception.

Kaepernick, who is 32, has not played in the NFL since 2016. He is most infamous for kneeling during the national anthem as a form of protests. He filed a lawsuit against the league, accusing owners of conspiring to keep him out the league. That lawsuit was settled out of court.
