Detroit Tigers Pitchers and Catchers in Florida For 2021 Spring Training
I've always been a Detroit Tigers Baseball fan ever since they won the World Series back in 1968. At that time I was only twelve years old and remember how exciting it was to watch my favorite baseball team win the whole thing.
Now we fast forward to 2021 and introduce the new Detroit Tigers manager, AJ Hinch. AJ already has the starting rotation for the first week of spring training games all mapped out.
And according to the Detroit Free Press, he isn't ready to spill the secrets. Hinch is also not going to name an Opening Day starter. We might as well forget about who the closer will be for the Tigers because that's a secret too.
It's official that the Detroit Tigers pitchers and catchers have reported to Lakeland, Florida to prepare for the upcoming baseball season.
AJ Hinch said this position matters. This organization has given me another opportunity. I'm going to take the time to let everybody know it. I did in our coaches meeting. (Detroit Free Press)
If you remember, AJ Hinch was fired by the Houston Astros in January 2020 and served a one year MLB suspension for his role in the sign stealing scheme. He was contacted and hired by Tigers general manager Al Avila immediately after the World Series and was hired in late October.
While pitchers and catchers reported Wednesday, the full squad won't show up for workouts until Monday. The first Grapefruit League game is Feb. 28 against the Philadelphia Phillies at Joker Marchant Stadium.
