Baseball is on hold along with the rest of the sports world.   One of the teams pitching prospects will be out until next year as he recently had Tommy John surgery.

According to M-Live, Joey Wentz will miss the season along with the first half of next season.  Wentz had the surgery to repair a ligament tear in his left elbow.

Wentz was one of the players acquired in the Shane Greene trade last year with the Atlanta Braves.

Wentz had five starts for the Erie Seawolves in Double A last season. He is currently the Tigers 8th best prospect according to MLB Pipeline.  This spring he didn't appear in a game due to soreness in his forearm and was sent to minor league camp.

He will probably return to Erie next season once healthy.   For more news on the Tigers during the current shutdown, check out their website here.
