This Weekend the Detroit Tigers will once again host Negro Leagues Weekend during the series against the Kansas City Royals.  

According to the Tigers, the weekend series will feature the Royals and Tigers wearing throwback jerseys of the Detroit Stars and KC Monarchs.

The game on Saturday will salute eight former Negro League players during a pre-game ceremony.  The first 10,000 fans attending the Saturday game will receive a Detroit Stars replica jersey.

The game on Sunday will honor Fox Sports Detroit Analyst,  Craig Monroe.  Monroe is the recipient of the 2019 Detroit Tigers Willie Horton African American Legacy Award. Recent award recipients include, Torii Hunter, Gary Sheffield and Chet Lemon.

Craig Monroe is also a former Tigers player and will throw out the first pitch on Sunday.

The Tigers are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Detroit Stars. Saturday's tribute game is the 25th annual.
