Detroit to Host a Series of Free Rock Concerts This Summer
The riverfront will be rockin' in the Motor City as Loverboy, Mhe Marshall Tucker Band, Mark Farner, Little River Band and more play free shows.
We love our music in Michigan and who doesn't love free? For the 14th year, the Rockin' the Riverfront Summer concert series has free shows on the GM Plaza, downtown Detroit. Here is the complete lineup for six consecutive Friday nights of classic rock from July 12- August 16.
The Marshall Tucker Band- July 12
You'll hear Southern rock classics like "Can't You See," "Fire on the Mountain" and "Heard it in a Love Song."
Mark Farner's American Band- July 19
Flint native Mark Farner will play all the Grand Funk Railroad songs he helped make hits, including “We’re an American Band,” “The Loco-Motion,” “I’m Your Captain,” and “Bad Time.”
Soul Asylum- July 26
"Runaway Train" was the biggest hit for these 90s rockers.
Loverboy- Aug 2
"Working for the Weekend" since the 80s, you will also remember "Turn Me Loose," "Hot Girls in Love" and "Lovin' Every Minute of It."
Jon Anderson of Yes- Aug 9
The Yes co-founder wrote some of their biggest hits: “I’ve Seen All Good People,” “Roundabout” and “Long Distance Runaround.”
Little River Band- Aug 16
You might not remember the name, but you know the songs: "Reminiscing," "Lonesome Loser," "Lady," "Cool Change" and more.
