Michigan Art Museum Named Awarded As Best In The Entire Country
I don’t think it was until I was able to visit an art museum that I truly started to appreciate what goes into being an artist. The time and effort that it takes to create what others will call a masterpiece can sometimes take years to accomplish.
I remember one of the highest honors I had was meeting a very old gentleman that my former guitar player was caring for who was an assistant to Diego Rivera.

He was responsible for the Detroit Industry murals inside the Detroit Institute of Arts. This gentleman was an assistant to Diego during this time., So it was really cool to hear about his experience working with such a talented artist.
Diego Rivera‘s mural is just one of the many reasons that the DIA, Detroit Institute of Arts is so popular and unique. Recently USA Today named the DIA, the best museum of the arts in the entire country, saying:
Housed within a Beaux-Arts building, the Detroit Institute of Arts maintains a collection of more than 65,000 works — among the largest and most comprehensive in the United States. Visitors can enjoy human creativity from across the globe as they explore more than 100 galleries, including the Center for African American Art, one of the first collections devoted to African American art at a major museum.
Another notable museum that made the list within our area was the Art Institute of Chicago, IL. Have you ever been to the DIA of Detroit? What was your experience like, and what's something that above all else, people should see while there?
