Tigers Stadium in Detroit was one of the original legendary stadiums in Major League Baseball.   The final game to take place at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull happened on September 27 back in 1999.

According to the Tigers on Facebook, the final game for the Tigers at the stadium was today in 1999 before they moved to Comerica Park the next season.

If you don't remember the game was between the Tigers and the Kansas City Royals.  It included a memorable grand slam from infielder Robert Fick.

The Tigers ended up winning the game 8-2 and with the win wrapped up the 87 year history of the old stadium.

I personally didn't get to see the final game but I did make it to a few games at the old ballpark back in the 1980's  The only one that really sticks in my mind was a game in 1984 against the Cleveland Indians.

I don't remember much about the game but I do remember walking into the field as you do as a kid and being amazed by everything in the stadium.  I also was happy to get my mini Lance Parish bat and 1984 team program which I still have to this day.

I only wish I could remember more about the games I attended.   Were you at the final game in 1999 or have any favorite memories from games at the old Tigers Stadium?
