One of the popular events for the NHL/AHL All Star Weekends is the hardest shot.  Over the weekend a former Grand Rapids Griffins player set a new record.

According to the story from M-Live, Martin Frk took part in the AHL hardest shot and was recorded with a 109.2 mph shot.

Frk is now a member of the Ontario Reign in the AHL.  He was a one time Red Wings prospect who played with the Grand Rapids Griffins and spent some time in Detroit.  The 109.2 mph shot beat the AHL record of 105.5 set back in 2015 by Colin Miller.

I would love to see if Frk will ever get the chance  to show off his shot for the NHL competition.  The actual NHL record is 108.8 set by Zdeno Chara in 2011.

Shea Weber of the Canadiens won the NHL competition on Friday night.   The Ontario Reign is the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.  If Frk could ever make it back to the NHL maybe we can see him square off against Weber next year.
