Ron Gardenhire has been announced as the Detroit Tigers new manager but we await to see who joins his coaching staff.  One interesting name who is joining is a former Tigers Infielder.

According to the story from M-Live and reported by Danny Knobler, former Detroit Tigers utility infielder Ramon Santiago is set to return to the team as their first base coach.  He will replace Omar Vizquel, who was the coach under Brad Ausmus.

He started his career with the Tigers in 2002 before being traded to Seattle.  He returned a few years later and was an utility infielder in Detroit until 2013. He played mostly 3rd, 2nd and shortstop during his time with the Tigers.

Known more for his versatility with his glove he did on occasion provide a big offensive highlight (see below).

The Tigers have yet to officially confirm any of the new coaching staff.  It is possible the team will announce the full staff once the World Series wraps up.
