The last thing that anybody wants to see is people who are currently experiencing homelessness is to be stuck outside in the cold, especially on Christmas Day.

Christmas is the one day of the year when we are supposed to forget all of our problems and enjoy a little comfort in our daily lives. But for those who are experiencing homelessness, every day brings new struggles as they fight to get basic human needs, like a warm drink and meal, as well as shelter from the elements.

That’s why one group in Kalamazoo is doing everything it can to raise as much money so that none of the people experiencing homelessness in Kalamazoo will have to spend Christmas outside.

The initiative, called Heads in Beds, is hoping to raise enough money so that hotels can be rented out, and the people who are houseless in Kalamazoo can stay in the hotels on Christmas Day, for up to three days.

This is a large undertaking, considering the amount of people experiencing houseless in Kalamazoo, which is why they requested the help of the community, asking for the things that they would need to give them a decent Christmas. As they mentioned in their recent post, the cost to house their group is not that much, when we band together:

PLEASE look at the sign-up and see if you have two hours to spare and choose something that you would enjoy doing! It costs $126/person for 3 nights lodging, food, transportation, etc... $504 covers three nights for four people! That is 12 sleeps! Rooms for families cost about $580 for three nights

Anyone who can donate can do so through the following avenues:

There Are More Ways To Help Than Just Donate
Other than donations, there are other tasks they need help with, like organizing donations and transportation for the houseless to the hotels. If you'd like to sign up you can do so here.
