GoFundMe Campaign Hopes to Bring Fourth of July Fireworks Back to Indian Lake near Dowagiac
The Fourth of July Fireworks show on Indian Lake between Dowagiac and Niles is a new southwest Michigan Independence Day tradition. Last year's show was a pandemic relief to those who live and vacation along the lake as well as those who found a spot to park along Indian Lake Road.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise the estimated $12,000 needed to put on the show. Organizer Mark Klausner describes the proposed event planned for July 3, 2021.
The sounds of patriotic music, the calm of still waters, the twinkle of boat lights and the anticipation of fireworks on Indian lake.
Last summer’s show certainly did not disappoint. Let’s do it again!!!We’re going to aim a little higher this year Indian Lakers, the goal is 12k.

Of course, many communities put on 4th of July shows and will hold fundraisers to augment the high cost of a fireworks show. How do you feel about chipping in for the fireworks you enjoy on the holiday.
Traveling around Michigan, there are many wonderful shows for the holiday. Two that come to mind are the Greatest Fourth in the North in Lake City (they win for best name, for sure) and the multi-day Fireworks Festival in Bay City, an event that can be viewed from Interstate 75, making it difficult for you to want to keep driving rather than pull to the side and enjoy the show.
No matter how you end up spending Independence Day 2021, we hope that it will be a much better year than the pandemic isolations of 2020.
