Yes, Chris Hansen Was Really Filming in Michigan This Weekend
You've probably seen Chris Hansen before on TV, doing his best to try to catch people who are doing wrong. He spent over 30 years at NBC, most of it working on their Dateline program, helping catching scammers of all kinds.
But, he's most famously known for his work on Dateline NBC catching Child Predators by using fake accounts and actors to catch people in the act of trying to prey on teenagers and children for sex.
He left Dateline NBC back in 2013, but he has been continuing to film episodes of him catching these creeps for the TruBlue Crime Streaming Network.
So naturally when we hear that Chris Hansen was in town, we instantly have that feeling of dread that something bad is happening in our community.
And over the weekend, the 'To Catch A Predator' host teamed up with law enforcement in Marquette for a three day sting operation, which will hopefully bring some not so nice people to justice.
According to a release, seven suspects have been charged with the same four crimes which include: Child Sexually Abusive Activity, a 20-year felony; Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, a 20-year felony; Accosting a Child for Immoral Purposes, a 4-year felony; and Using a Computer to Commit a Crime, which is a 7-year felony.
The people they caught during their operation included:
- 61-year-old male from Newberry, Michigan
- 21-year-old male from Houghton, Michigan
- 41-year-old male from Wallace, Michigan
- 18-year-old male from Gwinn, Michigan
- 26-year-old male from Negaunee, Michigan
- 67-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
- 62-year-old male from Skandia, Michigan
And if you'd like to watch the episode that filmed during this sting, you won't have to wait long.
The first episode of the show is expected to debut this Thursday, August 24th on the TruBlue streaming network.
