Last week, this article detailed how Thanksgiving week in Michigan could have tolerable temperatures. Within a week, the forecast has changed significantly.

Of course, it's tough for meteorologists to forecast precipitation one week out, let alone two. It's no wonder last week's forecast is already out of the question. It's going to be cold all week across the state and snow could impact some family's travel plans.

Still, this week has been as wet as advertised, even some snow snuck in where it wasn't expected this time last week.

Of course, it all depends on where you're located. Let's look at some of the major markets in Michigan and what those areas could expect.

Southwest Michigan Thanksgiving Forecast

Southwest Michigan, particularly the Kalamazoo area, could be in for a snowy Thanksgiving day. From Tuesday through the end of the week, daily high temperatures will drop from the high 30s to the low 30s while lows hover in the high 20s.

Kalamazoo is forecasted to see snow as early as Thanksgiving morning while Battle Creek could potentially see its share early Friday.

West Michigan Thanksgiving Forecast

West Michigan around Grand Rapids will likely have chilly days from Tuesday through the holiday. Windy conditions and snow are expected to hit the area Friday morning and persist through the weekend. Temperatures will stay moderately consistent from the mid-to-low 30s for the highs and mid-to-high 20s for the lows.

North Michigan Thanksgiving Forecast

Looking at Gaylord for an idea of what Northern Lower Peninsula Michigan can expect, and it's the white stuff. A week from Thanksgiving and the forecast calls for snow from Tuesday the 26th through Tuesday the 3rd. Thankfully, accumulations per day are expected to be around one inch.

As for the temperatures, it won't get above freezing in Northern Lower Peninsula Michigan for some time starting on Thanksgiving Day. For the holiday, the high will be 32 and the low will be 26.

Detroit-Metro Thanksgiving Forecast

The Detroit-metro region of Southeast Michigan can expect mostly tolerable weather. There's a low chance of snow on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, but temperatures on both days will be in the high 30s before dipping below freezing at night.

Upper Peninsula Thanksgiving Forecast

Looking at Marquette for a broad scope of what the Upper Peninsula can expect, the forecast is calling for freezing temperatures, high winds and a healthy serving of snow.

Mid-week highs are in the low 30s before the weekend brings highs in the upper-20s. The snow could start as early as Tuesday and last through the weekend. Thanksgiving Day will likely see the most snow with as much as three inches that day.

Upper Peninsula residents can almost guarantee themselves they'll get started with Christmas decorating with a good amount of snow on the ground.
