Surprisingly, the number of UFOs reported in Michigan decreased in 2024 compared to last year.

However, the year technically isn't over just yet. And with the way things have been going these last few weeks of 2024 could be quite eventful. Here's what we know so far:

According to Tiktok users there was supposed to a historic UFO battle in the skies on December 3, 2024. Sadly, the day came and went with no major alien battle or War of the Worlds-type scenario; a disappointment to many.

Between the supposed UFO battle, the photos and video footage of a weird orb spotted at the Manchester Airport in the U.K., and the strange drone-like lights that are appearing each night over New Jersey, can we all just agree that something is going on?

According to several reports Michigan ranks 9th among the top ten states for UFO and ghost sightings in the United States. There's even an Unsolved Mysteries episode on Netflix that covers the strange UFO sighting over Lake Michigan that took place in 1994.

At the time, law enforcement agencies up and down the lakeshore from Allegan County to Muskegon and beyond, received countless calls regarding inexplicable lights darting around in the Michigan night sky.

That being said, this recent uptick in UFO videos across platforms like Tiktok, Facebook, and Instagram has got me curious to know just how many UFOs or UAPs (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) have been reported in Michigan this year alone.

Thankfully all that data is easily accessible thanks to the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC). According to data gathered in 2024 thus far, there have been just under 100 reports of UFO sightings in Michigan.

Now, these were just reported sightings; that doesn't make them official just yet. NUFORC has a team investigating these reports and can often get to the bottom of things. The real explanation is usually something quite mundane, but sometimes even NUFORC investigators are left with more questions than answers.

What's interesting is this number is actually down from 2023; last year there were 135 UFO sightings reported in Michigan. What do YOU believe?

Michigan's President Gerald Ford's UFO Papers

In June of 1966, following a number of unidentified flying objects spotted in Southern Michigan and other parts of the country, then United States Congressman Gerald R. Ford took the United States Air Force to task for trying to dismiss his constituents' sightings as the result of swamp gas. Here are the papers, courtesy of the Gerald R Ford Presidential Library & Museum.
