Themed Street Names Show How Kalamazoo Communities Shaped Their Identities
There are some very unique and interesting street names in Kalamazoo & Battle Creek, and I've made a list of some of the most unique ones.
Street names have always been kind of fascinating to me. Some make perfect sense. A lot of them are named after important people from the area's history. Others follow a theme, especially in subdivisions.

The neighborhood I grew up in was called Wildflower, so naturally, the streets were all named after flowers. Daylily, Primrose, Goldenrod, Buttercup, and Mayapple. Pretty straightforward. You didn't exactly need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out the theme.
Then there are the street names that make you stop and think, “OK...there's got to be a story behind that.”
Kalamazoo and Battle Creek both have plenty of them.
I decided to put together our own list of some of the weirdest street names around Kalamazoo & Battle Creek. And if you live, or have ever lived on one of these streets, congratulations: You're officially a little cooler than the rest of us.
Of course, some of these streets may be named after actual people, places, or historical events, so no disrespect is intended. We're just here to have a little fun with names that make us do a double take.
Because one thing is certain: These cities have some seriously fantastic street names:
