UPDATE - Noon: Officers are now giving the all-clear in downtown Kalamazoo, but some Public Safety officers will remain on site to investigate the area.

Original Story - Wednesday morning, the Kalamazoo Public Safety Department advised people to stay away from downtown Kalamazoo, specifically the Mall, as they searched for a man who allegedly had a device strapped to his chest.

Reports first came in at around 11 o'clock  of a man in the Kalamazoo Mall with a device attached to him, across his chest.

KDPS confirmed on their social media pages that this is preliminary information, and they are unsure as to what the device is, but were treating it as if it could have been dangerous.

Several buildings in the area were reportedly being evacuated while police assess the situation, but as of 11:30, people were being let back into their buildings.

We will update this story as more information is made available.
