Heat Wave Alert For Kalamazoo And Lansing This Weekend
So far in 2025, the weather has been fairly mild, and we haven’t really seen too many really warm days. Now that summer is officially here, the heat will start to pick up, and we are going to start seeing some days that have very high heat indices, which we will want to be ready for.
It looks as though the first of many of these days is on the horizon. Recently, the Michigan Storm Chasers posted a graph that shows incredibly hot days coming up this weekend. Kalamazoo could be seeing a heat indices of 102°, while Lansing is expected to have 104°.

They shared this information on their Facebook, as they warned people to buckle up, because it’s about to get hot:
Temperatures & humidity gradually climb through this week, making it feel warm and muggy out there. This is only the beginning though, and what lies ahead for the weekend & into early next week could be considered a true heat wave.
When Will Michigan's First Major Heatwave Be In 2025?
Starting Saturday, our air temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s, with dew points in the 60s and 70s. This combination will drive our heat index into the low to mid 100s for a large portion of lower Michigan by Sunday.
With this major heatwave about to hit Michigan, it's important to remember to stay hydrated, bring your pets inside and make sure they too have enough water, check on the elderly, and most definitely, dress for summer.
